Summary

Do you ever wonder how psychology came to dominate everything from the sports pages in daily newspapers to the language we use to describe ourselves? This historical analysis by one of the UK's leading critical psychologists answers that question by exploring the history of the harm caused by the Psy professions, the complicity of governments in the expansion of the psychology, psychiatric and pharmaceutical industries, and some ways of resisting that expansion. From incarceration to lobotomy, ECT to psychotherapy and diagnosis to death-making, the Psy industry continues to govern us all. This scholarly critique shows how.
