Interlacing Water and Human Health is the third volume in the Water in South Asia series published by SAGE and SaciWATERs and discusses the relationship between water and health in South Asia. It studies health issue with reference to poverty, environment and infrastructure in the overall socio-political and economic developmental context. It combines curative, preventive, adaptive and integrated features of the problem. This book deals with the link between water and health; water supply, health and sanitation; water pollution and health hazards; concerns of water and health in the wake of natural disasters; urbanization; and industrialization. This book questions the public health policy in South Asian countries which tilts towards corporatization of water and health services, since it is in conflict with the developmental approach. The book also analyses the role of various factors influencing human health. Since literature on the interdisciplinary facet of water and health is scarce, this book will be of immense value in the area. The book will be of interest to researchers, students, administrators, policymakers and NGOs working in health and water sectors as well as those studying interdisciplinary issues of water.
