Author Biography

CHRIS CROWTHER is Senior Lecturer in Social Policy at Sheffield Hallam University after previously working at the Scarman Centre for the Study of Public Order, University of Leicester. He teaches undergraduate on the Applied Social Studies Programme, including the degree routes in Criminology and Social Policy. He is conducting research into various aspects of policing, community safety, anti-crime and disorder strategies and social exlusion. His publications include Policing Urban Poverty (Palgrave Macmillan 2000).

ALLYSON MACVEAN is Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Policing at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College after previously working in the Serious and Organised Crime Unit at the Home Office. She has carried out extensive research into the policing of paedophiles, organized crime, community safety partnerships, anti-social behaviour strategies and is currently leading a national research project on policing paedophiles on the Internet. Her publications include Policing Sex Offenders (Willan 2002).
