Summary

When the Asian nomads crossed the Bering Strait, they became the natives of North America. In the United States the Iroquois, the Cherokee, and the Sioux were the people that emerged from this group. With beautiful illustrations by Richard Zela, this book describes how these three cultures lived and their close contact with land and nature. This brief history of the natives of the United States provides the reader with a complete yet simple glimpse into these peoples, their origins, customs, and social and political evolution cut by the cultural clash with the West.
