Since 1996, German artist Jan Kochermann (born 1967) has been working with ducts as sculpture, producing a variety of large installations in public spaces that provide unexpected sights, whether it be a floating upside-down high-rise building, or the reproduction of a 26-meter-long bicycle tunnel. This monograph covers Kochermann's entire oeuvre, and also examines his light sculptures and film projections.

Author Biography

Jan Kochermann (1967 in ludenscheid) beschaftigt sich seit 1996 mit dem skulpturalen Element des Schachtes and realisierte in den letzten jahren diverse GroBinstallationen im offentilichen Raum. Bei seinem spiel mit den herkommlichen Realitatserfarungen des Betrachters entstehen immer wieder neue, unerwartete Raume beziehungsweise Raumsituationen: So wird der Besucher beispietsweise am ungesicherten Ende enies Schachtes mit einem mehrere Meter tiefen Abgrund Konfrontiert. Die vorliegendo Monografie umfasst das ganze Werk Kochermanns and behandelt neben den Grobinstallationen such seine Lichtskulpturen, modellhaften Innenraume mit Filmprojektionen, irritierenden Rauminszenierungen and Performances.
