Author Biography

James Holmes (Atlanta, GA) is an independent consultant who develops server-side applications for some of the world’s largest companies, such as ADP, IBM, and UPS. He was Oracle Magazine's Java Developer of the Year for 2002. He is the creator of Struts Console, a very popular support utility for Struts programmers, and Faces Console, the first GUI support tool for JSF. He is the co-author of The Art of Java, and the author of Struts: The Complete Reference. He writes articles for Oracle Magazine and speaks at many industry events.

Chris Schalk (San Jose, CA) works at Oracle Corporation as a Principal Product Manager for Oracle JDeveloper; he is responsible for the Web application development features within JDeveloper. Prior to product management, Chris held positions in both software development and technical marketing at Oracle. Before Joining Oracle, he worked at IBM as a software developer. Chris holds a Bachelor's of Science in Applied Mathematics with a specialization in Computer Science from the University of California at Los Angeles. Chris writes numerous articles on Web development technology with Java for various publications including Javapro and Oracle Magazine.
