Summary

To date, the contributions on the topic of the government job guarantee (JG) have laid the theoretical groundwork for the job guarantee approach toward full employment. The distinctive element that sets this book apart is its focus on formalization and practical application. The Job Guarantee: Toward True Full Employment is the first of its kind to focus on the 'second generation' of job guarantee proposals to full employment, and primarily on theoretical applications, simulations, and case studies to describe the nature, structure, and applicability for developed and developing economies.

Table of Contents

'With the rise of neo-liberalism full employment as a policy ideal has been either heavily discounted or rejected. Nevertheless humane economists never accepted this. The present volume contains challenging and highly relevant chapters by young and older scholars on the issue and what to do about it in the new environment.' - G. C. Harcourt Emeritus Reader in the History of Economic Theory, University of Cambridge, UK
