Author Biography

As a railroad brat, Barbara traveled throughout the states before marrying into the military. As a dependent, she found her love and home in Alaska.In 1989 Barbara obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications at CSU Bakersfield. There she discovered her writing skills as a reporter. Taking this knowledge to the road, she wrote for several trucking magazines while driving cross-country in an eighteen-wheeler.Returning to Bakersfield, Barbara worked in the community college and published articles in the local magazines, newspapers, and wrote several books in her spare time. She also coordinated several Writers' Conferences as the president of the local writers' club.In January 2000, Barbara moved to Los Angeles to work at USC, and graduated in 2006 with her first Masters in Professional Writing. She sought a second Masters at USC, Annenberg School for Communications, but moved back to her beloved Alaska before finishing.Today, Barbara lives in Fairbanks, working for the University of Alaska on the same floor as the Anthropology department. The chair is a forensic anthropologist who also consults for the FBI.
