Summary

Kids Making a Difference for Animals will make kids feel empowered to do good for pets and other critters. They'll be inspired to read about children who have rescued homeless animals, raised money for shelters and other charities, made jewelry and held bake sales to support animal-friendly causes, volunteered their time to help educate others, and more. This book profiles humane heroes who haven't let their young ages get in the way of taking part in making the world a better place for our animal friends.

Author Biography

Nancy Furstinger has been speaking up for animals since she learned to talk—and she hasn’t shut up yet. Nancy volunteers for an assortment of humane societies and rescue groups, and she has been a vegetarian since the age of 16. She’s fl unked “Fostering 101” many times with her trio of rescued pooches and seven house rabbits. Nancy has been a feature writer for a daily newspaper, a managing editor of trade and consumer magazines, and an editor at two children’s book publishers. She is also the author of more than 100 books, including many on her favorite topic: animals! Nancy was born on April 10—ASPCA day.

Sheryl L. Pipe, PhD, is the senior director of humane education at the ASPCA. In this position she writes articles and the curriculum for courses, presents workshops at local and national conferences, initiates projects, and oversees the work of a department of seven talented staff members. Sheryl has had companion animals her entire life. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, David, a son, Joshua, a dog named Bailey, and cats from A to Z: Alex, Maxine, Moshe, Samantha, and Zachary.
