Summary

It has been many years since Orlando left his native village, lost in the Italian countryside. Now, his career as a painter, like the rest of his life, is in a kind of lethargy, a slight loss that he intends to channel back to the landscapes of his childhood: there he will discover that the old pink house of his teacher is in selling and buying without really knowing why. However, as anticipated from the title, the house will not be a passive element in this story: some unusual phenomena begin to happen that reveal hidden traces and will make you believe that perhaps it was the house that actually chose it. to the. In this journey to the past, in which our protagonist plunges to find the meaning of his present, suspense and melancholy unexpectedly come together to illuminate a beautiful intimate novel dotted with luminous sunsets, orchards and flowers. Laura Mancinelli performs a beautiful introspection exercise whose common thread is one of the questions that have besieged mankind forever: why do we do what we do? What is the meaning of certain decisions?
