Author Biography

Nino Haratischwili nació en Tbilisi, Georgia, en 1983 y vive en Alemania desde 2003. Además de novelista, es también dramaturga y directora de teatro. La octava vida (para Brilka) (Alfaguara, 2018), su tercera novela, ha sido traducida a veintiocho idiomas, ha vendido más de un millón de ejemplares en todo el mundo y se ha convertido en uno de los títulos más importantes de la literatura europea reciente. Entre los galardones que Haratischwili ha recibido por este libro destacan el Premio Anna Seghers, el Literaturpreis des Kulturkreises der deutschen Wirtschaft (ahora denominado Literaturpreis «Text & Sprache») y el Premio Bertolt Brecht. Además, la obra fue aclamada por los dos principales medios en alemán, Der Spiegel y Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagzeitung, como la mejor novela del año. La Gata y el General (Alfaguara, 2020), finalista del Deutschen Buchpreis, consolidó a Haratischwili como una escritora indispensable de la literatura contemporánea.
