"This book is the continuation of serial publication Mlekopitayushchie Sovetskogo Soyuza (Mammals of the Soviet Union). It is devoted to the description of Lagomorphs. The order of inclusion of taxa within families and genera corresponds to the increasing specialization. Paleontological information on recent species and genera is provided. Only those species are included in the book, that live in Russia, the Ukraine, the Caucasus, Russian Central Asia and Transcaucasia, that is, in the territory of the former USSR. For such species the information on their distribution and biology outside the limits of the mentioned territory are given, as far as possible, briefly."--BOOK JACKET.
