Nancy Frey and Douglas Fisher are coauthors of the Heinemann title Word Wise Content Rich: Five Essential Steps to Teaching Academic Vocabulary, Grades 7-12 (2008). They are classroom teachers and faculty members at San Diego State University. Their work focuses on ensuring that students develop literacy across subject areas. Nancy and Doug have collaborated on several prior books, including: Better Learning Through Structured Teaching (2008), Checking for Understanding (2007), and Language Arts Workshop (2005).
