This book takes up the accounts already given in a book entitled Memorial de l'Empire - a la Gloire des Troupes Coloniales (Memorial of the Empire - to the Glory of the Colonial troops). Remaining in relative obscurity, at this time the work did not draw attention to the Colonial Troops' and Senegalese Tirailleurs' exploits during the Phoney War and the French Campaigns, covering from September 1939 to June 1940; this book finally provides the information to fill in this important history. Using maps and other inserts, the author covers these campaigns for each part of the colonial arm, including historical context and course operations. After forty years of service in the French Army, Paul Gaujac is now pursuing a second career as a military historian.
