Author Biography

Stuart A. P. Murray, an author and editor for almost forty years, specializes in American history. Author of over thirty-five books, including the award-winning America's Song: The Story of "Yankee Doodle," he has also worked as a book and newspaper editor, a beat reporter, and a magazine publisher. His journalistic writing has been published in regional dailies as well as in the New York Times. Donald G. Davis, Jr., former editor of Libraries Culture, is editor of several reference books, author of numerous essays, and professor emeritus of library history at the University of Texas at Austin. Previously, he worked at the University of California, Berkeley Library and also served in Special Collections of the libraries at UCLA and California State University, Fresno. Nicholas A. Basbanes is the author of the bestselling book on book collecting titled A Gentle Madness: Bibliophiles, Bibliomanes, and the Eternal Passion for Books. He worked as literary editor for the Worcester Sunday Telegram and served as president for the Friends of the Robert H. Goddard Library of Clark University. Currently, Basbanes and his wife write a monthly review of children's books.
