Summary

It’s getting dark and Little Chick needs a place to stay. As she walks around the barnyard Little Chick meets many farm friends, Ruby Rabbit, Patty Pig, Cora Cow…and asks, “Can I stay with you? I’ve lost my way and don’t know what to do.” Time and again these farm friends turn Little Chick away because she looks and acts differently. Then Little Chick meets Shiloh Shepherd. Shiloh knows exactly what matters most and what to do when a friend needs help.

Author Biography

Makayla Wood is a small-town girl with a big heart who loves country living, where “traditions and keeping your word mean everything.” She met her husband, Caleb, in high school and the two have been married for six years. They have two “independent and curious and wonderful children,” Leo (five) and Lyla (one-and-a-half). They also have two dogs, Duke and Fergus, and two chickens, Sunny and Scramble. The family loves hanging out with friends and family, going on walks, and exploring the outdoors. Makayla’s other hobbies include nature photography and baking. It is Makayla’s hope that this book will help all children understand the love of Jesus Christ and find their identity in Him, even if they haven’t found where they fit in the world just yet. Melinda Kasten is a wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who believes children are life’s most precious gift. Little Chick’s New Home reflects her own blended family’s welcome to children who need a home. Melinda and her husband, Tony, have two biological children, Makayla and Trey. She and Tony have also helped raise three bonus children, Emma, Miguel, and Samara. Melinda wrote Little Chick’s New Home after Emma shared her struggles of finding a place to belong with the author. Melinda woke up the next morning with Little Chick’s entire story on her mind.
