Summary

A TALE OF LOVE, WAR, LIFE, DEATH... AND AFTERLIFE. Featuring early work from red-hot creator James Robinson (Starman, JSA, Leave it to Chance)! In 1940, London is in the middle of World War Two; bombers fly overhead nightly, and blackouts are enforced by air-raid wardens. With this violent, uncertain setting, multi-award winner James Robinson and acclaimed artist Paul Johnson (The Books of Magic, The Invisibles, Mercy) spin a masterly tale of love and betrayal... Jack Brookes, an air raid warden, is asked to investigate a young, beautiful fortune-teller who has told one of his mother's neighbours that her son, thought to have been killed in the blitz, was in fact murdered! Soon, Jack finds himself in love with the mysterious woman, and in deadly danger from a gang of brutal killers...
