Summary

The Lone Ranger is a blockbuster take on a familiar legend, brought to the screen by the team behind the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Based on the beloved TV show, The Lone Ranger is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Armageddon, Bad Boys, The Rock, Pirates of the Caribbean) and directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, Rango). Armie Hammer (The Social Network) stars as the eponymous masked hero, while Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean, Alice in Wonderland, Rango) plays his erstwhile companion Tonto. This striking coffee-table book will follow the thrilling behind-the-scenes adventure that unfolded while making this fast-paced outlaw adventure. Written by unit publicist Michael Singer, The Lone Ranger: Behind the Mask delivers an indispensible insider’s view of a truly epic shoot that combined stunning Wild West locations with audacious practical effects and an exceptional cast that also includes Tom Wilkinson, Helena Bonham Carter, and William Fichtner. Accompanied by arresting unit photography that captures the unique visual style of the film, The Lone Ranger: Behind the Mask delves into key areas of the production, including costume design, stunt work, and location shooting in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. The book will also look at how the filmmakers specially constructed three full size 19th century trains for the shoot, along with six miles of track in two separate locations! And, of course, no book covering the Lone Ranger would be complete without an in-depth look at the training of the Lone Ranger’s legendary horse, Silver. With contributions from stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, as well as Jerry Bruckheimer’s personal on-set photography and Gore Verbinski’s own production sketches, The Lone Ranger: Behind the Mask is the ultimate companion book to the biggest film of 2013.
