Summary

At once a manual, memoir and history of creative resistance in a world awash with war and poverty. An icon of the 90s zine scene, Scam traces the evolution not only of cities but of his own thinking - from his early focus on more outré forms of resistance through more contemplative times as he become preoccupied with the need for a more affirmative vision of the future. Whether handing out fake Starbucks coupons or dreaming of a future with more public art and punk holidays, Scam gives readers inspiration for defiant living.

Author Biography

Erick Lyle is an activist, a musician, the editor of the influential zine Scam, and the author of On the Lower Frequencies (Soft Skull 2008). Raised in South Florida, he spent much of the nineties hopping cross-country freight trains and living in abandoned buildings. He now lives in Brooklyn.
