Summary

In a time of uncertainty, humanity has touched the stars and claimed vast worlds under the unified Nations of Earth. Yet beneath the heels of the Mother World, the colonists grow too strong. Soon after, a war unlike any seen before would last for twenty years wherever independence had a voice. Towering machines, known as Unit Fighters, were piloted by the brave as historic battles were fought. And after nine years of peace between the newly established Pride Systems of Devoir-Con passed, the scars of such a mad war were not only left on the worlds they shed blood on but on the soldiers and soon-to-be combatants of Devoir. These are just a few of their stories as, once again, the torn and gritty flag of Devoir-Con will be raised among the controversies of war, peace, love, struggle, and innocents lost.

Excerpts

Most of Darren's past is a mystery, even to Sharon, as he often keeps to himself. Darren saw the destruction and taking over of Juantan first hand as an arriving Devoir Con Tiger pilot. He was a short and scrappy pilot. Myzota was like a lot of young soldiers; anxious for combat and adventure. And over a short period of time he became an ace pilot. "Come on, Darren..." said Sharon impatiently. "I'm next in there and you know I have to leave soon." One could say that after he and his Tiger squadron wiped out Juantan's defenses, Myzota had seen enough "ordered" conflict and grew old in his soul. And as a currently active pilot and soldier, he has seen the worst in others. Including him. While Darren allows the shower to pelt and wash about him and drain below, in reality, it can never clean what he has done nor restore him from being a thirty something shell-of-a-man. Sharon speaks to herself while picking her nails, "What an outsider. He's just too... quiet. I share everything with him. But does he open up to me? No." Yet something snapped in Darren. His youthful attitude changed all the while getting into petty bar room fights. He doesn't back down nor retreat. Darren can only describe it as a thrill. A thrill and an excuse that led him down the path of a thief and Juantan Pirate. It was after just a while of smaller offenses like illegally selling Devoir Con parts and equipment did Darren decided to participate in a pirate salvage operation against his own faction, Devoir. In a re-outfitted unit fighter, Darren slaughtered all of the Devoir forces that got in his way. The pirate faction of Juantan dubbed Darren Myzota as a ruthless hero. It wasn't long when his piracy made him into an unknown legend by the civilians of Juantan. But where this pirate ace lacked in respect, he gained fear by his fellow Devoir soldiers. And though Myzota believes he is safe within the shadows, he could care less of his merciless actions against the never blinking eye of Devoir.
