Author Biography

Janette Aikens Owens was born in Savannah, Georgia. She grew up in Harlem, New York, the eldest of 12 children. Educated at Mercy College in Yonkers, New York, she earned a certificate from the Writer s Digest School in 1996. She has written more than 100 poems and was nominated as Poet of the Year for 2006 by the International Society of Poets. Her first book, Drowning, Rhyme by Rhyme, was published in 2001. Janette has two sons and two granddaughters and has raised numerous foster children. Recently retired from the New York State Court System after 36 years, she and her husband live in Delaware.
