Summary

It is estimated that over two and a quarter million Canadians have diabetes, with 90 percent of those cases being type 2. Doctors generally provide these patients with a basic understanding of the disease, but this is the first book to provide a personalized, at-home program to monitor, track and gain control of type 2 diabetes. It includes fill-in-the-blank worksheets, charts and daily logs. With simple-to-use blood glucose monitors now widely available at drugstores, checking one's blood sugar at home has never been easier. The author offers a straightforward way to relate these readings to their causes, leading readers to learn how to manage their disease.

Author Biography

Beth Ann Petro Roybal, M.A., is an award-winning writer, editor, and instructional designer of health and safety publications, videos, computer-based instruction, and teaching outlines. Her more than 100 publications have been used by well over a million people. She has developed educational materials for physicians, nurses, and other health professionals, as well as for companies that provide health services and products. What she finds most fulfilling, however, is presenting technical medical information in a way that is understandable and meaningful to lay readers, enabling them to be better prepared to take charge of their health. When not busy developing educational materials, she and her family spend their free time hiking the coastal Central California hills and tending an orchard and garden at their hillside home overlooking California's Pajaro Valley.
