Summary

The suicide of the young girl Midori upset his father, Mr. Nagara, a wealthy Japanese businessman who cannot tolerate the loss of her daughter and seeks revenge blindly. David, her boyfriend, is also unable to forget her. Perhaps to overcome his grief, he begins a relationship with Ryu, an enigmatic and lonely girl who appears in his shop and starts repeating the walks and the rituals of his late girlfriend, David finally surrenders in a sexual and desperate passion. The witness and narrator of this unusual love story is also an engineer captivated and obsessed by Ryu. He records the sounds that surround the various scenarios, from Tsujiki, the bustling fish market in Tokyo where he works at night, up to visit cemeteries on Sundays. He and David are unaware, however, that Ryu has an occasional other occupation that she doesn't speak about: she's a hit-woman!
