Summary

Did you know there are two wellness factors that affect every cell, every tissue, every organ in the body? But no minimum daily requirement has been set by the Food and Drug Administration for the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. The scientific and medical communities have yet to define them essential to human health despite solid scientific evidence based on more than 9,000 clinical trials undertaken over the last forty years. Research has shown that the risks of suffering from such modern-day illnesses as heart disease, strokes, dementia and Alzheimer's disease, cancer, and inflammatory diseases like diabetes and arthritis can be cut significantly by taking as little as 500-1,000 milligrams of EPA and DHA daily in some cases.

Author Biography

Jrn Dyerberg, M.D., DMSc, and Richard Passwater, Ph.D., are authorities on the subject. Dr. Dyerberg conducted the first study of the Inuit population in Greenland in 1971 that led him to discover that EPA and DHA are needed to prevent heart attacks and promote heart health. Dr. Passwater wrote the first book on fish oil and marine lipids, EPA: Marine Lipids (1982). Backed up by thousands of scientific studies, these authors prove that EPA and DHA must be incorporated into the western diet either through consumption of baked or broiled fatty, cold-water fish or from fish oil (or other marine oil supplements) to correct the deficiencies that lead to the major causes of death today. After establishing that these long-chain fatty acids are critical for full performance and high energy in all body systems in Part One of the book, the authors explore thirteen conditions where EPA and DHA play a decisive role in prevention of or lessening of disabling conditions in Part Two. If, for example, you wish to reduce your chances of dying a sudden cardiac death by 90 percent, it's time to take the advice of Drs. Dyerberg and Passwater and begin taking EPA and DHA now. J Dyerberg, M.D., DMSc, the world's groundbreaking researcher in omega-3 fatty acids, has published more than 350 scientific articles that substantiate his landmark research of 1971. Recognized worldwide with many awards, Dr. Dyerberg has been a professor at the University of Copenhagen since 2001. Richard Passwater, Ph.D., a research biochemist whose discoveries have advanced nutritional science since 1959, has published more than 45 books and over 500 articles on nutrition. Dr. Passwater is director of research for the Selenium Nutritional Research Center in Berlin, Maryland.
