Summary

Most books on the wireless propagation channel have a rather theoretical approach, which for some interested readers, may not be easy to follow. The approach proposed here is based on carrying out simulations after a brief introduction to the theoretical fundamentals of the issues dealt with in each chapter. The resulting plots are analyzed and commented for clarifying the obtained results and drawing conclusions from the obtained results. Different scenarios are analyzed if necessary and the differences in the obtained results are discussed for drawing conclusions. Further simulations may be proposed if deemed relevant. The book structure consists of a number of proposed simulations, each in one described in its own chapter to the following structure:- Brief theoretical overview- Step by step simulation procedure (including commented Matlab code) and- Commented results (Figures, numerical results, etc.) for different test cases/scenario configurationsThe book covers: Introduction to wireless propagation, Shadowing effects, Coverage and interference, Introduction to multipath, Multipath Narrowband channel, Shadowing and multipath, Multipath Wideband channel, Propagation in micro and pico-cells, Mega-cells. The land mobile satellite (LMS) channel, The directional Multipath channel and MIMO and Propagation effects in fixed radio links (terrestrial and satellite).
