Phillips, born in Liverpool, was a long-time resident of Canada's largest and most cosmopolitan city when he wrote these stories. Author Biography

John Arthur Phillips (1842-1907) was born in Liverpool, England. He was a leading journalist in Canada and edited two literary magazines in Montreal. Most of his short stories are set in Montreal.
