"My Bess Story for God's Glory" (From Rejection to Royal Election) is simply a story about an adult child of an alcoholic and how from a child, the black girl living in a predominantly white world, learned to survive. Through much exclusion from some family, peers, and educators, she latched on to the spiritual and moral values that were taught by her mother, her favorite teacher, and her church family.
