Summary

Discover the enchanting world of "My Friend The Little Wren," where Jacqueline E. Hartman weaves a captivating tale that celebrates the profound connections forged through small gestures. Meet Shoo Shoo, the mischievous tree squirrel whose name originated from the playful attempts of nearby children, Jack and Lucy, to shoo him away. Embracing this name with a sense of identity, Shoo Shoo embarks on a heartening mission to bestow unique names upon the diverse inhabitants of his garden abode.

As Shoo Shoo's endearing quest unfolds, he encounters Teakettle, a tiny wren renowned for its exquisite song. This captivating melody inspires Shoo Shoo to christen his newfound friend Teakettle, sparking a deep bond that forms the heart of their shared journey. Throughout the garden's lush landscape, the two friends traverse a world of wonder and awe, discovering the true essence of companionship and the beauty of connection.

Author Biography

"I write and illustrate under the name Jacqueline E. Hartman, and this is my debut children's book. I started my career as an artist and illustrator for the Department of the Army after graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After receiving my Master's Degree in Industrial Arts and several teaching certifications from Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, I entered a career in education that lasted for 36 years.

Upon my retirement, I began illustrating again. During the pandemic, I spent a lot of time drawing and painting the flora and fauna that live in our garden, which is a Certified Wildlife Habitat. This led to the many adventures of Shoo Shoo and Teakettle, the first of which I have published here. I live with my husband, John, and we enjoy traveling and all kinds of dancing."
