Author Biography

Horatio Clare is the author of two memoirs, Truant and Running for the Hills, as well as A Single Swallow, Orison for a Curlew, and Down to the Sea in Ships. Running for the Hills won the Somerset Maugham Award, and A Single Swallow won the Dolman Best Travel Book Award. He is also the author of the children's book  Aubrey and the Terrible Yoot, which won the Branford Boase Award. He has written for the Sunday Times, Financial Times, the Observer, and Vogue. Jane Matthews studied Fine Art at Oxford University and Art History at the Courtauld Institute in London. She worked for nine years in film and television, and more recently at Tate Modern, writing scripts for their audio-guide and children's worksheets. She is the author of Skomer.
