Author Biography

Evan McHugh is a native of Sydney, and has traveled throughout Australia, Europe, and the United States. He has worked as a journalist on a range of subjects, including technology, travel, and literature, with the national newspaper The Australian and for the television program Beyond 2000. McHugh has written several books, such as The Dry Rot, Pint-Sized Ireland, and Shipwrecks: Australia's Greatest Maritime Disasters. He has also assisted Aboriginal designer John Moriarty in the writing of his biography.Peter Turner is Australian by birth, a journalist by trade, and a wanderer by nature. He has worked as an editor, publisher, and journalist in Australia and for newspapers in Indonesia, Thailand, and Brunei. As a travel writer and photographer specializing in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific, Turner has contributed to newspapers and magazines worldwide and to more than 20 guidebooks.Jill Schneider is a photographer who received her MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. For her master's thesis she spent nine months documenting Himalayan life in Nepal, northern India, Kashmir, Bhutan, and Tibet. Schneider later returned to Asia, taking travel photos for marketing campaigns. Now a freelance photographer working out of San Francisco, she is represented by the National Geographic Image Collection, and also has led the photography portion of a National Geographic Student Expedition to Ecuador and the Galápagos.
