Summary

Networking Linux: A Practical Guide to TCP/IP provides the reader with an understanding of the TCP/IP protocol, the many applications built upon it, and the skills needed to install and use these applications on a Linux platform. This material is presented in two sections. The first, a description of the protocols and applications, provides both a traditional description and a discussion of the use (and, if needed, the installation) of the protocols and many of the applications making up TCP/IP. The second section is a guide to troubleshooting TCP/IP networks and the tools used to do so. It begins with a description of the tools and methods commonly used in diagnosing problems, then discusses their practical application using case studies to provide additional insight.

Author Biography
