Author Biography

Conleth Manning is a senior archaeologist in the National Monuments Service, Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. He has studied and directed excavations at many national monuments in Ireland, including Cashel, Clonmacnoise, Dublin Castle, Roscrea Castle and Glanworth Castle and has written and lectured on many aspects of Ireland's archaeological heritage.Paul Gosling is a professional archaeologist and a member of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland. He lectures on Built Heritage in the Department of Heritage & Tourism, GMIT. He is co-editor of two volumes in the New Survey of Clare Island Series, New Survey of Clare Island Volume 4: The Abbey (2005) and New Survey of Clare Island Volume 5: Archaeology (2007).John Waddell is a former Professor of Archaeology and Head of the School of Geography and Archaeology at NUI Galway. Appointed Professor of Archaeology in 1998, he is a member of the Royal Irish Academy. His research interests lie mainly in the archaeology of prehistoric Ireland and in the prehistoric relationships between this island and Britain and Continental Europe.
