Author Biography

Michael F. Hordeski, P.E., holds a BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Bridgeport and an MS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California. He worked on the testing of the rocket engines for the Apollo space program which landed twelve men on the moon. He conducted some of the first computerized studies of the heat transfer in space vehicles and electronic systems and tested some of the first lightemitting diodes. Mr. Hordeski has also participated in many new technology assessments and has been involved in many diverse technology areas, such as high energy physics, nuclear energy, energy storage, electric power generation, aircraft and automotive computers, transmission, and air bag controls. A professional engineer in control system engineering for 25 years, he designed control instrumentation, position, temperature, and pressure transducers. Additionally, he has served as an applications consultant in a diversity of areas, including power and petrochemical plants. He has worked with automated manufacturing design, marketing, and manufacturing studies, and also as a component designer. Further, he has provided services as a system and reliability analysis consultant for a wide range of products, including instrumentation, control, and power systems
