This is one of Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen's illustrations for the fairy tale Minon-Minette. Prince Souci fell in love with a beautiful and kind-hearted princess called Minon-Minette, and was desperate to win her love. Yet finding himself one day by chance in the Iron King’s territory, Souci was captured and caged, nearly despairing of escape. When Minon-Minette discovered Souci’s fate, she prepared to bring war to the Iron King’s gates, and rode out into the world to seek her prince.
