He didwhat the angel of the Lord commandedhim to do. He tookMary home as his wife. 25But hedid not make love to her untilafter she gave birth to a son. AndJoseph gave him the name Jesus.The Wise Men Visit Jesus2 Jesus was born in Bethlehemin Judea. This happenedwhile Herod was king of Judea.After Jesus’ birth, Wise Menfrom the east came to Jerusalem.2They asked, “Where is the childwho has been born to be king ofthe Jews? When we were in theeast, we saw his star. Now wehave come to worship him.”3When King Herod heardabout it, he was very upset. Everyonein Jerusalem was troubledtoo. 4So Herod called togetherall the chief priests of thepeople. He also called the teachersof the law. He asked themwhere the Christ was going to beborn.5“In Bethlehem in Judea,” theyreplied. “This is what the prophethas written. He said,6“ ‘But you, Bethlehem, in theland of Judah,are certainly not the leastimportant among thetowns of Judah.A ruler will come out of you.He will be the shepherd ofmy people Israel.’ ”(Micah 5:2)7 Then Herod called for theWise Men secretly.
