Summary

Very little research exists on organization and leadership of elite sports in the Nordic countries. This book begins to fill the gap and will stimulate further research in the area. Based on a project initiated in 2009, the editors are grateful for support from the Center for Training and Performance (CTP) at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. In two extensive workshops, the contributors discussed preliminary versions and developed a shared format for the presentation of the case studies. In addition, the editors carried out independent research in all four Nordic countries in order to strengthen the common threads and the comparative perspective. As a collaborative research project, the book will benefit students, as well as practitioners in the field.
