Summary

The group was led by an extraordinary power duo. Busara Dizzy was the master planner. If he put it on paper, it was lethal. Sometimes literally. Motown was a Detroit hustler with a classy flair. He was committed to making money and very little distracted him from his mission. Together their cleverness provided successes for them where their experience couldn't. Along with Poppy, Waukee Talkie, B-Dub and Greco, these young entrepreneurs formed a brotherhood that couldn't be shaken.

Oh, but it was tested. Scores of challenges arose, from outside their circle and within. Their crew faced a daunting number of obstacles; competitors, clients, police, other students and themselves. These hungry entrepreneurs bravely trudged through their perils to boldly reshape an entire city by introducing a lethal product. They undoubtedly had the wherewithal to bring the city to its knees. The question is: was it all worth it?

Author Biography

THE ORGANISM, Is a collective of Men whom met over 30 years ago in college. Over this course of time, we have endured a myriad of Joys and Pains. Our primary goals are to share our experiences, life lessons and our matriculation from adolescents to Men. With the hope that it will help some other adolescents and young men to see the errors in our thinking, and not make similar heartaches for themselves. Leroy J. Barrett III, son to Leroy Barrett, was born in 1970 at Hutzel hospital in Detroit, MI. His gifts, talents and love for entertaining, well-equipped him to thrive in what he often referred to as 'Showtime At The Apollo – the city'. In the 1970's and '80's, Detroit was a booming yet harshly judgmental metropolis for entertainment. The city was bustling with talented people so there was a great degree of expectation for those who donned the stage. Motown's influence had set the bar for local talents and the populace kept the pressure on. Young Leroy had a sense of said pressure and fully embraced the challenge. He began singing and dancing in public by the time he was 6 years old and only left the Detroit stage when he departed for college at 18.

Leroy's life began as a poet, a singer, a musician, a thespian and a battle emcee. Though he was an incredibly popular local figure in his childhood, his father kept him balanced and hungry for development. Taking his father's lead, Mr. Barrett became an avid reader at an incredibly young age. He spent time in encyclopedias and dictionaries often instead of TV shows or toys. Due to his father's mentoring style, Leroy didn't talk much before he was 14 years old. He, instead, elected to silently observe things and people around him. He had a focus on educating himself that didn't require a bunch of speaking on his part. Anyone who knows him now would find that hard to believe, he's quite the talker in his older age. Leroy credits his father and the amazing city of Detroit for fashioning his will, entertainment skills and his ceaseless desire for an elevated standard of excellence. He's eternally grateful for his' little' (but more senior) sister, Tanya Barrett. She taught him what it means to love without fear and has been his most consistent life cheerleader.

Currently, Leroy is an author, twelve-time award-winning screenplay writer, stellar intellectual property creator and budding entrepreneur. He's an incredibly proud father to five miraculous children and resides in the jewel of America, also known as San Diego, CA.
