Summary

Guaranteed to spark memories of enjoyable days spent afield, this classic collection of stories from well-loved authors Gene Hill and Steve Smith captures the essence and humor of the outdoor life. Whether they're calling ducks, ice fishing, dealing with gunsmiths, or dragging the unwilling dog to the vet, these two wits are sure to entertain. And when it comes to recalling those all-too-abundant missed shots, close calls, and ones that got away, readers might just learn a thing or two about the art of "looking at the truth from a variety of angles," as Hill offers "irrefutable proof that the judgment and memory of the outdoorsman improves, like a fine wine, with time." Book jacket.

Author Biography

Steve Smith is a magazine editor, book author, hunter, and fisherman. He lives in Michigan with his wife, three children, and an impressive assortment of shotguns and flyrods, "none of which I know how to use very well." He is presently Editor of Pennsylvania Outdoors, Michigan Sportsman, Associate Editor of Gun Dog, Wisconsin Sportsman and Minnesota Sportsman. A former (he calls it "reformed") school teacher, Smith spends most of his time trying to figure out ways to buy new and expensive outdoor stuff and find time to use it Gene Hill is the sole support of several Labrador retrievers, half a dozen gun companies and at least that many makers of flyrods. He writes a monthly column in Field & Stream, is the shotgunning editor for Gun Dog magazine, and is the author of 8 and 1/2 books. His favorite charities are trap and skeet to which he contributes regularly
