The ill-conceived transition process, as a result, degenerated into the fragmented and dependent apartheid statelet that exists today in the West Bank and Gaza.

Marwan Bishara is Lecturer at the American University of Paris and Research Fellow at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales.
