As mothers and fathers explained over coffee and water bottle chats, teaching your children to communicate and really listening to them when they talk are two of the greatest gifts you can give your children. Communication is the way to show you value your children because when you really listen to your children, it validates who they are. This point, one stressed by successful parents, was one of the most important to emerge during my long stretch of interviews.
