Summary

While the primary target of this book is certainly pastors, there are plenty of applications made to those who listen to sermons as well. The needed reformation in contemporary preaching will depend as much on the way we listen to preaching as the way we do it. The preaching event is not primarily about sermon-making, but about proclaiming the Word of God rightly so that He gets the glory. In other words, the emphasis should not be on the preparation of the sermon as an art, but the sermon event as it fleshes out the voice of God. The Passion-Driven Sermon is a practical theology for pastoral preaching, not sermon-making. Areas addressed in The Passion-Driven Sermon include: The philosophy of pastoral preaching, Communicating and listening for God's voice in the sermon, God-centered vs. man-centered preaching, and Preaching for real life-change. Book jacket.
