Author Biography

This story of pioneers and intrepid immigrants is by a writer with a fitting background. At the age of sixteen, author, John Textor, arrived in this country on one of the last ships still engaged in the transatlantic passenger service. Later he served three years in the US Navy and received MBA graduate degree from the Northwestern University. After a career as an engineering manager, the author now lives in a home overlooking Lake Michigan. His passion for history and his love for local nautical stories led him to work with the descendants of the survivors in writing the tribute to the Phoenix's passengers and crew.
