This collection of photographs is the outcome of a three-year project run by World Press Photo in Bangladesh, Bosnia, Peru and Zimbabwe. This boxed set of four books presents the responses of the forty-four participating photographers to the theme of Pleasure of Life. World Press Photo is an independent, nonprofit organization that promotes photojournalism around the world. Their annual photo contest attracts tens of thousands of entries and the prize-winning selection travels the world. World Press Photo also runs educational photography projects such as master classes, seminars and children's programs and their aims include developing local skills and creating local media and photojournalism resources. The interpretations of The Pleasure of Life theme chosen for the photography assignment show rich variety, and these differences of vision are graphically reflected both in this set, and in an exhibition curated by Vincent Alabiso from The Associated Press.
