Este libro plantea un estudio sistemático de las condicionales concesivas en español. Estas construcciones, por su carácter híbrido, permiten abordar cuestiones fundamentales de la gramática, como la condicionalidad, la modalidad epistémica, la expresión del contraste o la alternancia del modo verbal. Para analizar estos aspectos se recurre a la pragmática como componente fundamental en la descripción gramatical. En este sentido, se aplican herramientas relacionadas con el significado inferido, tanto convencional como conversacional, y con la estructura informativa. De manera más específica, se tratan fenómenos como la escalaridad o la marcación formal.
