Summary

Quine and His Place in History contains three previously unpublished posthumous papers by W.V. Quine: his 1972 address to the Congress on Unified Science which was thought to have been lost, and two short papers developing his Pursuit of Truth position in response to Ebbs' review and revealing the usually covert influence of Dreben. It further contains eight historical, exegetical, and critical papers by Quine scholars from across the world: Ben-Menahem on pragmatism, Ebbs on analyticity, Hylton on philosophy of language, Janssen-Lauret on meta-ontology, Kemp on realism, Lugg on Quine and Wittgenstein, Sinclair on Quine and C.I. Lewis, and Lodge, Leary, and D. Quine on W.V. Quine and the Unity of Science movement.
