Summary

Wayne Brindle's inaugural collection of poetry, evoking radiant beauty, wild fury, and heartbreak throughout America— individuals and communities who have struggled through misfortune with resilience and uncommon triumph. In language that is both simple and sparkling, Brindle describes how the people who settled the American plains and piedmont trust in their creator and are continually astounded by the beauty of the land.

Including love and nature poems, regional, cultural and inspirational poetry, and even haiku, these poems are deeply personal. Brindle uses vivid imagery to paint a memorable picture of life in a luminous world. Whether marveling at the trees or birds in a field, or mourning the loss of a dog named Flower, Brindle finds the smallest experiences incredible and explores everything with humor, wonder, and clarity.
"Radiance and Fury" is a vibrant collection of poems that examines myriad manifestations of truth, rediscovery and nature. These gut-grabbing poems ask readers: What is life, really? What do you expect it to be? They point to true experience with one's self and others.

For more than a dozen years, Wayne was chairman of the Piedmont Literary Society, compiler and editor of the Piedmont Writers Review, and briefly the western vice-president of the Virginia Poetry Society.
