J. DOUGLAS TOMA is a visiting scholar at the Institute for Research on Higher Education at the University of Pennsylvania. ADRIANNA J. KEZAR is assistant professor of higher education at George Washington University and director of the ERIC Clearinghouse on Higher Education.
