Author Biography

Brian Jacques says: "Imagine a timeless world where any young reader could travel to when-ever they wished. A place which exists beneath some blue forgotten sky. A land that does not have to rely on modern-day technology. In my younger days, I was transported to such territories. Kingdoms of high adventure, of stirring values, where good fought evil. It was in the form of books I found entertainment. Timeless works by long-dead, but ever-popular authors. "I created and wrote my first major book, Redwall, for the children of the Royal School for the Blind in Liverpool. It was my intention to read the story to the pupils there. A great friend and mentor, Alan Durband, was instrumental in bringing my manuscript to the attention of a publisher. Shortly thereafter, Redwall was in shops, schools, and libraries. By the mail I receive daily from all parts of the globe, it gratifies me to know there are many young people reading and enjoying my tale. Redwall Abbey in Mossflower country is a land I return to time and again. It pleases me immensely that my faithful readers still travel there with me." Brian Jacques is the author of the best-selling Redwall novels, as well as many related books. He was born and still lives in Liverpool, England. Visit his Web site at www.redwall.org.
