Insights gained from sixteen mission trips to the Middle East and Eastern Europe bring an understanding to the events of September 11th and the horrible recurring violence and suicide bombings playing out in Iraq I try to be a voice for those killed by religious extremists.

Author Biography

Charles R. Hurst, M.D., born in Longview TX, 1933, is a graduate of Baylor University û B.A. 1954, M.D. 1958. He and his wife Jesmarie have three grown sons and six grandchildren. He practiced family medicine in Tyler, Texas, for thirty-three years. As a member of First Baptist Church, he has been past deacon chairman and is currently a men's Bible teacher. He has served on the Coordinating Council of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and other civic boards, and previously on the Texas Jail Commission. He lost Jesmarie in January of 2006 and recently married a childhood friend, Betty Robbins Lloyd. Betty has helped him with this revision. He conducts weekly volunteer sessions at the local Juvenile Center and Teen Smart, a program at the First Baptist Church for teens at risk. He currently owns Peach Tree Golf Club, Inc., with its two courses. Other interests are his grandchildren, skiing and dog training.
