Summary

Resort Fashion takes the reader on an-around-the-world vacation through jaw-dropping resort locations and timeless fashions. The book is divided into a dozen chapters, each covering a particular style of resort clothing (including bathing suits, the resort print, the sailor stripe, and playclothes). Each chapter celebrates the evolution from its origins to present day, often shown by the icons who wore them, like Halle Berry sporting the bikini forty years after Catherine Deneuve. Resort Fashion also shows the significant impact that the world's most famous designers have had on resort wear, such as Pucci, Poiret, Schiaparelli, and, of course, Chanel "who single handedly relaxed women's clothing beginning with her very first design, the Deauville cardigan." Also included are pictures of the relaxing class through the ages from the Murphy's to the Kennedy's and Windsor's to Sean Combs and Pharrell Williams.
